PIONEERING SPECIES: : a species that is first to colonize and thrive in new areas. The showcase of a unique, large scale, temporary public art installation in Tynemouth Station. Pioneering Species links art, heritage and science through the use of the Victorian influences of pin hole photography, botany and taxonomy of natural species. Rednile artists have used this as inspiration to create printed artworks that will transform the 14 hoarding units in the Victorian designed Tynemouth Station and reintroduce a botanical aspect to the station for which it was once famous. Created and coordinated by Rednile Projects Ltd Commissioned by North Tyneside Council and Tynemouth Station Working Group. BRING YOUR OWN PLANT and contribute to this transformation that will bring the station back to life! You can drop off your flowers, plants or small trees on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 June,12-4pm (NB this installation will be sited in the station for one month and you can retrieve your plant after this. All will be cared for during this time) North East based writer/poet Pete Mortimer will also be performing new work relating to the project. Getting here: Pioneering Species is located inside Tynemouth Station, along the metro platform. Free car parking is available. Refreshments provided
