Dale Hipkiss, Birmingham-based artist and Coventry Biennial 2017 exhibitor shares his recent experience of Manifesta 12: Planetary Garden, Europe’s nomadic biennial which is currently occupying Palermo, Italy.
Manifesta has stated an intention to investigate “the role of cultural intervention, allowing citizens to take back ownership of their city”. What could this intention mean if applied to Coventry over the coming years?
Dale will talk about how he saw this being achieved in Italy.
Oliver Noble, Curatorial Intern with Coventry Biennial and Dale, will then expand upon this and engage the audience in discussion over a potluck dinner.
This event is being delivered in partnership with Coventry Artspace and will also provide the final chance to see Camara Taylor’s ‘Flutter’ which has been presented as a part of The Art of Coventry Season 1. Additionally, there will be chance to find out more about The Art of Coventry Season 2 which will be starting in September.
Free entry.
