“At the heart of the exhibition is a poem encircling the back rests of my bench piece in the form of wood carvings which I initially wrote to celebrate the rediscovery of a local walk and feeling in the moment. The bench being the transformation of a sensory experience from written word to sculptural form.
Together we will look at how poetry can be used to explore form to create more tactile and heartfelt ways of sharing our experiences to help sustain a connection with each other.
This will be followed by a collaborative group activity designed by myself and guest artist Fiorella Angelini featuring our poems to get you started on writing your very own. Inspired by my works on ‘Letting Go Plates’- a trend which became popular during the pandemic, especially with teenagers, to deal with anxiety and frustration.”
