POINT is a screening series exploring the queer subversive potential of horror and its sub-genres. The title takes inspiration from the 1990s Point Horror teen book series.
The second night in the screening series POINT BODY explores body horror, subversion, transgression and eroticism in contemporary moving image.
The programme will include short films by local and international artists: Cade, Adham Faramawy, Clio Barnard, Enrico Coccoza, Jasmine De Silva and Alice Shindelar.

‘Skin is at once the most fragile of boundaries and the most stable of signifiers’. (Halberstam, 2006)
The horror genre provides fertile ground for transmuting the human body into something ‘other’ or ‘deviant’.
Loosely referencing filmmakers Cronenberg, Żuławski and Tsukamoto and theorists Halberstam and MacCormack POINT BODY focuses attention on viscous entities and bodily fluids, skin, flesh and suture, transhumanism, prosthetics, disembodiment and mutation.
POINT BODY is free but ticketed, donations welcome on the door. Follow the link:
