Mandy Rathbone and David Rogers will be leading the second of our Spring Listening Walks, starting in Portesham. Walking through the village and then climbing up to Blackdown and Hardy’s Monument, through some sheltered woodland which should be bursting with Spring life. At Hardy’s Monument there will be the chance to enjoy the panoramic views and listen to DIVAcontemporary director Victoria Pirie explain some of the geological and historical aspects of the Ridgeway. Throughout the walk participants will be listening to and recording seasonal sounds, using DIVAcontemporary’s professional sound recording equipment. This walk is 3.5 miles long. We meet at 10 a.m., start walking at 11 a.m. and aim to finish by 4 p.m. The pace is slow to allow plenty of time for listening and recording. On Sunday 11th May there will be a sound editing workshop at DIVAcontemporary’s Bridport Studio, to listen to and edit the sounds recorded. All participants are welcome to attend this workshop.
