During this workshop, you will discover how to set and design an A6 Greetings Card, and then print it on an Adana 8 x 5 or Farley Proofing Press. There will also be an opportunity to make gift tags. Whether you are a beginner or have prior experience, this workshop is suitable for all skill levels. Get ready to unleash your creativity and learn how to make personalised cards, and gift tags.

This four hour workshop will take participants through the design, setting and printing of a Greetings Card created from the artists’ own collection of type and printing blocks. There will also be an opportunity to make gift tags using the same methods. The session will start by quickly setting and printing something to get a feel for the process. Participants will then peruse the collection and plan their design. The next stages are setting and imposing the design ready for the press. Printing will be completed on either an Adana 8 x 5 Press or the Farley Proofing Press. These skills will then be out to use to produce a set of gift tags.

Tea, coffee, and snacks will be provided but do bring a light lunch along with you. Wear old, warm clothes and tie back long hair (if applicable).

The workshop will be held in my studio which is part of the Outer Spaces network at Redheughs Avenue in Edinburgh. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow print enthusiasts and share ideas while enjoying a creative and relaxed atmosphere.

Outer Spaces is a charity collaborating with artists, art collectives, organisations, and commercial property owners to occupy and activate the nation’s empty commercial spaces. Outer Spaces offer access to empty shops, offices and industrial space for artists working across disciplines to research and make their work. The organisation programmes residencies and projects to help sustain and support artistic practice and they commission artists to engage audiences with art practice.
