The exhibition features major collections of original punk objects from across the UK, in partnership with the award-winning exhibition at New Walk Museum and Art Gallery and Soft Touch Arts.
Centering on Nottingham’s punk scene, the exhibition considers the relationship between historic and current socio-political issues. Highlighting the 1970’s subculture, we uncover punk as a transformative era for protest, resistance and youth empowerment. The exhibition acknowledges the experiences of local feminists, Black and LGBTQ+ / Queer punks. Considering punk’s significant influence on migrant experiences, we also explore how the subculture’s imagery manifests itself through contemporary art practice.
