renew, ri-nu, v.t. to renovate: to transform to new life, revive: to begin again: to repeat: to make again: to invigorate: to substitute new for: to restore: to renovate: to regenerate. At this time of year we begin to think of new life and growth and also of new ideas and new beginnings. This is my first solo exhibition since moving to Devon. In those two and a half years I’ve been absorbing my new surroundings, walking the paths and fields in a variety of weather and becoming increasingly affected by the landscape. My recent paintings come out of this new, but ancient, landscape; a regeneration of ideas. Working in traditional oils, but also utilising new media, digital photography and photoshop, my paintings capture a specific moment, here for a few seconds and then gone.
