The artists in Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain use allegory, narrative and memory to add layers of meaning for the imagery they create. Turner Prize winner Laure Prouvost will be screening two of her recent narrative film works – Stong Sory and The Add Series. Drawing from the world of symbolism and metaphor, Catrin Davies & Lewis Wright are creating a sculptural installation that refers to the Classical painting tradition of the still life, in which objects substitute a bigger narrative. And Jorge Lizalde looks at the way we remember and how we recall events: in his Mnemonic series, short visual ‘poems’ are created from sourced images in response to participants’ early memories.
