In 2010, Martin Winfield travelled across the widest point of mainland Britain, from West Wales to the Essex coast, with a pinhole camera mounted in the front of his car. The resulting sequence of b/w photographs, most of which were made with the car in motion, capture the road ahead as a central “A” shape amidst more or less blurred surroundings. This exhibition, the first showing of the complete set of silver-gelatin prints, occupies 2 floors of the UCMK foyer gallery, and includes a 40 minute audio journal of the trip, to which visitors may listen in.
