The pilgrimage takes walkers from Scarborough to St. Hilda’s Holy Spring, Hackness, then return by public transport with water drawn from the well. Bring a vessel of your choice to collect water which will be included in the installation at Crescent Arts.
This secular pilgrimage will explore the hidden potential of everyday experiences.
‘An Empty Vessel’ is a film project instigated by artist Susan Hiller, inspired by collecting water from sacred or once-sacred sites around the world as part of her ‘Homage to Joseph Beuys’ series. You’re invited to work with Webb-Ellis to expand a growing web of connections and associations, culminating in the creation of a new audio-visual installation for Museums at Night on October 27th. This will open simultaneously at both Crescent Arts and The Nunnery Gallery at Bow Arts in East London.
