EXHIBITION, DISCUSSIONS AND PERFORMANCE
KeyMaker: Professor Mike Collier, University of Sunderland
Discussion Chair: Louise Hutchinson, Assistant Curator at Yorkshire Sculpture Park
Dalby Forest is set in the North Yorkshire Moors and we have kindly been given use of the workshops located opposite the visitor centre. Professor Mike Collier is our keymaker (alternative keynote) whose research focuses on art, walking and a phenomenological examination of the environment.
25 artists are exhibiting both in the exhibition spaces in the courtyard and various locations within the forest. There will also be performances on the opening night. Artwork relates to the theme of SelfScapes and responds to the forest location. Discussions will focus on a range of topics including further establishing common themes within the SelfScapes research group and how individuals and communities engage with forest spaces. The creative work comes from a broad range of creative practices related to SelfScapes; drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography, film, performance, music…
