Hosted by artists Dean Kenning, Vanessa Scully and Liam Scully –
‘Sick Monday’ is a celebration of the ‘video nasty’, its influence on contemporary video artists, and its overlooked critical capacity to express social and political truths in an exuberant style.
We are bringing together a network of artists working in moving image to produce new works, which are discursive and provocative in nature.
Presented in 2018 over three parts, the programmers unearth three obscure films:
‘Street Trash’ (1987, James M Muro)
‘Society’ (1989, Brian Yuzna) and
‘Reflections of Evil’ (2002, Damon Packard).
The hosts have each invited 5 artists to respond to their chosen feature by creating a trailer and a movie poster.
We continue our screening programme with a Halloween special at Close-Up Film Centre, 29 October 2018 at 8:15pm.
Artist Vanessa Scully has chosen the absolutely sickening film ‘Society’’ and has invited the following artists to respond:
Anita Delaney
Anne Kathrine Bindesbøll & Ava Fersi
Dave Burrows
Noor Afshan Mirza & Brad Butler
Birgit Ludwig
and herself!
Price – £10 / £8 concessions / £6 Close-Up members
