Something and Nothing and Everything is the second collaborative project between Rebecca Maeve Manley and Anna Beam. Both of the idiosyncratic designers embrace the hand made in their individual practices, which both deal with the translation of digital imagery into forms that occupy physical spaces. While having seemingly opposing influences (Rebecca is a fan of clean graphics while Anna obsesses over outdated science fiction), these two will unite their styles to create a bespoke window display for Fred Aldous during the Free For Arts Festival 2010. Using wood, paper, flat graphics and found objects the two pose as carpenters, carefully crafting a multi-dimensional abstract forest. What at first appears to be a jumbled collection of tests on a worksite becomes a cohesive visual dialogue between Anna and Rebecca’s personal interests and explorations when viewed from the right angle.
