An art exhibition by Warren Shaw exploring the connection between sound and sight.
In the exhibition Shaw combines thoughts on sound in visual, aural and literary forms creating diverse connections between the senses. Using a wide range of media from sculpture and installation, to painting and drawing, the works question our perceptions and encourage a new way of seeing and hearing.
‘Sound has always been a constant fascination for me. Throughout my development as a visual artist it has become an increasing, almost overwhelming influence on my thoughts and work. In many ways my work explores the possibilities of sound as vision or vice versa’, says Shaw. ‘Everyday we encounter both visual and aural events and there is a connection there in that space, in that moment, even on the simplest of levels, be it an echo in a hallway, the roar of an engine driving past or an overheard conversation. I want to reveal these interconnections in new ways and encourage people to explore the ways in which their senses interact’.
