The weekend of March 27 to 29 sees two empty shops – 26 and 28 North Street – playing host to illuminate's first event ‘Spring Forward'. Number 26 will feature a series of back-projected films made by Bristol related artists Kathy Hinde, Elle Farnham, Harriet Fleuriot & Duncan McGonigle, Claire Louise Barrie, Joe Magee, Elise Hurcombe, James Ireland, Ed Tucker, Wilkie Branson and Nathan Hughes alongside an exhibition in the empty property (no. 28) next door. The exhibition celebrates the past and present of Bedminster's retail history and visually demonstrates ideas for a future illuminate Festive event. All are invited to the preview which starts at 6pm on Friday. There will be a marquee on the courtyard of the old Gala Bingo where you can buy a beer and have some food; listen to some live music whilst watching the film screenings. The films will then be shown on both Saturday and Sunday evenings. The exhibition at No. 28 will open throughout the day and evening over the whole weekend. illuminate – a window on the community through art & history
