Alan Smith's photography exhibition reflects St Helens past as it survives today. The people portrayed are synonymous with a northern town built on glass, coal and rugby. Alan's environmental portraits include a coal merchant, rugby player, pigeon fancier, baker, butcher, furniture restorer, glass merchant, cobbler, barber, pork butcher, newsagent, farmer, Eddie of 'Barton Pickles' fame and the carillon player from the town centre church. The black and white analogue, silver pritns were taken on a large format camera and each picture is accompanied with an extended caption, outlining the sitter's connection with the town.More of the exhibiton can be viewed at www.alansmithphotography.co.uk The exhibition has been sponsored by NGF EUROPE Ltd
