‘Standing Still’ is an exhibition of moving image art by Kit Mead showcasing work that is shown in the time-based media of film. A collection of recently made films that explore the experience of time and memory will be on show each demonstrating dis…parate ways of dealing with the subject matter.Influenced by Buddhist allegories, cosmology, philosophy and film, Kit’s work is an exploration of our understanding and experience of time and memory. Shown through installations, the subject of the work is primarily documentation which features unsettling occurrences that have been juxtaposed to create what appear to be ambiguous, bizarre and illogical narratives. While the narratives being played out are crucial, the temporal physicality of the media itself is also significant, causing time to not only be seen as the theme, but also a tool treated as a constituent device for the viewer to experience.
