Almost all the work in this show is sourced from around the area where I live, near Carn Brea, Redruth, and a section of the north coast running between Hayle and St. Agnes.Over twenty years of living here I have slowly become familiar with the area, and certain subjects and viewpoints have attracted me to them over and over again. These subjects have gradually become more like characters in some kind of story than simply views.The work in the show is a mix of directly observed drawing and painting, done in situ, and studio work which attempts to create fresh possibilities by combining and adapting theses motifs, using long vertical or horizontal formats.
