Falcon Mill Artist Studios and Gallery , (FaMAS), is situated on the 1st floor of a Grade 2 listed former cotton spinning mill, which was built in 1903 by G Temperly for Falcon Mill Ltd. It is located on Handel Street in Bolton BL1 8BL.
FaMAS was founded by Pete Marsh in 2012 initially with 12 studio spaces along with a large exhibition area. We extended further into Falcon Mill with more 3 studios in 2021.
5 of the new 9 studios built under Phase 1 have already been let (with no advertising) providing 4 studios with immediate availability. 12 more will be to let under Phase 2.
At present it houses eleven resident artists in individual lockable studios, and provides an extensive gallery space where current work is displayed. We have two Open Studio events each year with live music on Preview evenings. However, under Phase 1 of development a further 9 studios have been added with another 12 to be added under Phase 2 including studios on the 2nd floor. Along with the new studios our exhibition space will be tripled in size.
The studios enjoy 24/7 access, free car parking, secure premises that are floodlit at night, easy access to Manchester, Bury, Salford, Chorley, Preston etc. The current artists renting studio space at FaMAS work in a variety of genres, styles and media. Applications for studios are welcome from “creatives” just get in touch with Pete Marsh (artist and Director of Falcon Art C.I.C.) to arrange a viewing.
Prices for the available studios vary between £108.50pcm to £404.25pcm (excluding electricity).
