Sarah Terry, the artist behind Guerilla Embroidery is proud to announce the opening of her first UK based solo gallery show at The Bowery, Headingley, Leeds. ‘Surface Tension’ explores the line between fine art and craft and runs from 8th September – 23rd November inclusive. “ The title ‘Surface Tension’ not only refers to the tension of the fabric when hand sewing using an embroidery hoop, but also to the tensions that exist between fine art and traditional ‘craft’ techniques. My work exists between the two, essentially blending them to create new lines of dialogue that interact and interplay with existing images.” Sarah uses found objects and linens which she finds in antique and charity shops all over the world. Recycling and re-using materials is an essential part of her current practice.
