Temporarily housed in the centre of Deptford’s colonial past, Territoil takes a newcomers perspective on both the history and future of Creekside, much of which has been erased or will continue to be erased by gentrification and the passing of time.
Territoil interprets what it means to occupy territories within diverse boundaries, from the public to the private, the physical to the digital and the metaphysical, and through reiterations of past, present and future infrastructures. Through works of sculpture, installation and painting, using elements such as live seedlings, story-telling, archival language and spiritual mappings, the artists expand the meaning of territory and allude to the invisible labour embedded in the construction and maintenance of its different forms.
Curated and conceptualised by artists Gabriela Avila Yiptong (@wwwgabbicom), Izzie Beirne (@izziebeirneart), Beverley Duckworth (@bev.duckworth), Faissal El-Malak (@faissalelmalak) and Paul Fox (@paulfox_art) who met whilst studying on Goldsmiths MFA.
Open daily from 12.00 – 18.00.
