TESTING GROUNDS: SATURDAY 17TH MAY FROM 6PM & SUNDAY 18TH MAY FROM 2PM – FREE. PERMANENT GALLERY is pleased to present the third TESTING GROUNDS – a quarterly programme of Live Art, Performance Art, Sound Art and Music, that will this time run over two days: Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th May 2008. Invited artists: Saturday: SETH KRIEBEL, TAYLAN HALICI, ALEX COXALL, BIRDENGINE, BETH GREENHALGH AND SAMUEL HASLER, RICKY LEACH. Sunday: SARA POPOVA AND MICHAIL MAVARONAS, PABLO PEREZZARATE, ZOE BOURAS, SALMA NATHOO, ADAM FEARON, FRI-, RUFUS OSBORNE. TESTING GROUNDS is a micro festival that has two main focuses: to provide a platform for artists to experiment with new ideas and projects, focusing on the contextualization of their work and taking risks – reaching for that idea that is currently just on the edge of their horizon, rather than reproducing an existing work; and to provide the audience with a wide variety of works by presenting an eclectic programme of alternating genres/disciplines that embodies the diversity of artistic attitudes and approaches. TESTING GROUNDS hopes to contribute to the richness of the Brighton Live Art scene by creating a place where the audience can glimpse the newest work, be provoked, discuss new ideas and socialize. Thus this micro festival ought to be seen as a social encounter as much as an experimental artistic event. TESTING GROUNDS is curated by NADEGE DERDERIAN.
