The Other Art Fair, presented by Saatchi Art, will return to King’s Cross this summer for the first in-person London art fair of the year. The four-day event will take place from 1-4 July 2021 and will see the UK’s leading artist-led fair take over West Handyside Canopy in King’s Cross, presenting an exciting line-up of independent and emerging artists for the fair’s 19th London edition.
West Handyside Canopy is a beautiful, covered outdoor space that is easily accessible and located two minutes away from the newly developed shopping and food destination Coal Drops Yard. In accordance with current public health guidelines, the fair has introduced a series of important operational changes as part of its new Safer Fair Plan.
The fair presents art lovers with the chance to meet over 100 inspiring emerging artists, discover thousands of artworks suiting every budget and style, and get involved in a programme of unique visitor features. Creativity and culture is at the heart of the fair, with DJ sets, tattooing, bespoke installations and more all presented in a safe and accessible environment.
The return of the fair’s London summer edition follows the successful physical edition of The Other Art Fair Sydney, which took place in March this year and broke records for onsite attendance and onsite art sales, highlighted by positive consumer sentiment toward safely returning to IRL events.
Ryan Stanier, Founder of The Other Art Fair comments, “We are so excited to be returning to in-person events this summer. This year has been tough for the arts and events industries but we’re coming back fighting, and we’re ready to welcome visitors to enjoy and discover art differently.”
The Other Art Fair has become one of the most exciting showcases in the world for young artists. It offers astute collectors the chance to discover and buy work directly from global contemporary art’s rising stars, with editions now in London, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Sydney and Melbourne. Setting it apart from the traditional art fair is its artist-led approach, which presents an opportunity for each artist to meet and sell directly to thousands of buyers onsite.
The summer edition presents a variety of carefully selected works spanning all media by some of the most exciting emerging contemporary artists – each one chosen by a committee of industry experts. The selection committee for the July fair includes Rebecca Wilson, Chief Curator and VP Art Advisory, Saatchi Art, Kaia Charles, Cultural Commissioner and Curator, NOW Gallery, Tabish Khan, Art Critic, and Joe Kennedy, Co-founder and Director, Unit London.
The full July programme as well as details of a special Guest Artist will be announced later in May. The Other Art Fair London Virtual Edition will follow immediately online from 6-11 July. The first fully three-dimensional virtual reality art fair, it allows visitors a completely interactive art fair experience – they can navigate a traditional fair layout, browse stands, and in keeping with the ethos of The Other Art Fair, enjoy unparalleled direct access to the most exciting new artists.
