~

Hannan Jones is an artist born on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja, Western Australia of Algerian and Welsh origin, who is based in Glasgow. Her practice deep dives into language, rhythms, identity and psycho-geography in response to cultural and social migration. Beginnings are commonly found within the sonic sphere, through sampling techniques, electronics and music concrete. Her inquiry into sound is not only to reclaim histories but also explore the space between them.

Hannan’s interdisciplinary approach promiscuously intersects sound, installation, moving-image, collaboration and programming in an attempt to find moments of ‘togetherness, to expand our perspectives, and to reflect ourselves in our environments, if only temporary.

~

Shamica Ruddock is a research-led artist working often between sound, text, moving image and installation. Considering the ways Black diasporas are engaged and explored through sound, whilst meditating on sound culture and the interface between race and technology, Shamica has been particularly interested in how black technosonic production functions as a form of speculation, narrativising and worldmaking. Through film Shamica explores Afro-Caribbean puppetry, masquerade, and oral folk storytelling traditions. Black temporal entanglements, dispossession and Marronage have also been important points of departure.
