An exhibition of new work from a collaboration between artists Judith Alder and Clare Whistler. The works respond to special sites, exploring our relationship with the world we live in and our attempts to understand it by tracing and mapping our own and others’ histories. The Visitor series has developed over three years through visits to Bunce’s Barn in the Sussex Weald, an ancient tithe barn at Great Dixter and the Freud Museum, London. Work originating in those three locations is now brought back to the site of the very first Visitor which was filmed and photographed at the Redoubt Fortress, Eastbourne in 2009. The work takes the form of a series of video installations, a collection of limited edition digital prints, live performance and text responses by guest writers Seb Doubinsky, Martin Felton, Kay Syrad and Martha Stutchbury. There will be short performance by Clare Whistler and Freya Wynn-Jones with libretto by Mark Hewitt on 7 April between 6 & 8pm and 12 May as part of Redoubt’s Torchlight Tour after dark.
