The Welsh Yew – Myth & Reality

This rich and exciting exhibition explores the theme of the Tree of Life, the Yew, known as such in most cultures since time immemorial. Their remarkable powers of regeneration gives these ancient trees the stamp of immortality.

CERAMIC SCULPTURE

I have explored the myths, legends and realities of the ancient yew tree in Wales over recent years and present here some of my intriguing finds.  From discovering the wonderful poetry of Dafyd ap Gwilym a 14 c welsh poet reputedly married beneath the yew at Strata Florida and later buried there, to the living reality of a most wonderful 6000 year old tree in the heart of Wales at Defynnog.

Works are in Stoneware and are high fired with oxides and underglazes.
