In the composition of matter and form, artists create meaning, and matter retains its voice in that mix. As questions surrounding geo-politics, sustainability and social justice come increasingly into daily life consideration, our relationships with the material world change, and with this our knowledge and judgement about the provenance and constitution of products and spaces around us. How do we form and use these new knowledges, relationships and understandings, and what role can the arts play in that process?
Join host Volkhardt Müller plus invited guests Sally Watkins, Sean Borodale, Alex Murdin, Ben Huggins and Raj Patel in an open discussion on the theme of Quality and Alchemy. Josie Sutcliffe will facilitate, and the evening will be framed by a showing of work in-progress.
From 6pm you can have a look around the studio; the discussion will start at about 7pm. Some refreshments will be provided, but please bring a small food/drink contribution to share with fellow guests.
