EXHIBITION BY JANE MCADAM FREUD & CLAIRE MCDERMOTT. Together for the first time Jane McAdam Freud and Claire McDermott’s title fittingly describes their process. They are working in the 2nd Centenary independently for an exhibition together which looks at the notion of ‘two’ in all its esoteric, metaphoric and socio-economic meanings. Working towards an exhibition in this way agreeably leads to a certain amount of influence and overlap which is a welcome part of the process.Encouraging togetherness on both a familial and global level these, often playful works are inspired both by the animate and the inanimate. They invite involvement: Through sharing their experience of exhibiting together questions are provoked. These pairings within pairings resonate with other disciplines from cell building as in molecular science to Goethe’s Elective Affinities. McAdam Freud and McDermott are both members of the Royal British Sculpture Society and The Art workers Guild. The Art Workers Guild was founded in 1884 and is a society of artists, craftsmen and designers with a common interest in the interaction development and distribution of creative skills. Jane McAdam Freud MA (RCA), FRBS focuses on the areas where art and psychoanalysis meet.
