Under British Skies
Launch: Saturday 14 September 2:00-4:00pm
Exhibition open: 14 September – 16 November normal gallery opening times
Under British Skies brings together artists who look at British landscapes in ways that differ from the traditional 18th century model of painting and garden design.
Through experimenting with scale, perspective, and selection of hidden spaces the artists explore the changing cultural and political associations that affect our understanding of nature.
At a time of Brexit related debates, the exhibition is working with the subtext of what ‘The Great Outdoors’ means for contemporary ‘Britishness’ in comparison to historical representations of the landscape as part of our national identity.
Exhibition curated by Tracey Eastham in partnership with Chapel Gallery, West Lancashire Borough Council and funded by Arts Council England.
