An exhibition of large and enigmatic photographs, exploring the identity of busy places and much used objects when people are absent. The images reference the poetry of Eric Ormsby, specifically his poem, Railyard in Winter. Annabel Friedlein studied at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge University and the Courtauld Institute of Art, University of London. While there she wrote Pre-Raphaelites and their Followers (Brockhampton Press, 1995) and has also contributed to art magazines and other publications. Ashley Friedlein studied at Pembroke College, University of Cambridge. After graduating he worked for a number of television production companies before moving to the digital team at the Financial Times. From there he became a web strategist, overseeing the launch of Channel Five’s first online presence. Eric Ormsby has six poetry collections, including Bavarian Shrine and Other Poems (1990), which won a Quebec prize for the best poetry of that year. His poems have been published in various journals and magazines such as The New Yorker and The Paris Review. Presently, he lives and writes in London, where he is Professor and Chief librarian at the Institute of Ismaili Studies.
