VANISHING, the debut exhibition from the curatorial team at THIS GALLERY, is currently on view at thisgallery.org. VANISHING is the combined artistic efforts of 45 artists from 17 countries and features videos, paintings, drawings, installations, as well as innovative uses of other media.
Artists from all over the world submitted original artworks that “vanish, disappear, evaporate, fade, melt, dissipate, diminish, drop out of sight, dissolve, or recede.” Works that referenced “any thing or concept that is vanishing such as species, hairlines, democracy and more” were also submitted. Over 150 artists submitted works relating to the theme of vanishing.
“We were aiming to create an exhibition based on artistic excellence spanning and uniting countries, cultures and media,” said THIS GALLERY co-curator Barbara Bryn Klare. “We were truly awed by the quality of the entries and how the artists took the theme to places we hadn’t thought of, which was what we were hoping for.”
This exhibition is the first in a series of juried exhibitions to be hosted on the THIS GALLERY website and in alternative art spaces around the Vancouver area. The next exhibition is planned for Spring 2021
