Visions of Utopia is an exhibition of the work of Debbie Isley and Laura Taylor, two artists who graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2007.Debbie's practice is situated mainly in the area of drawing, with her serpentine and meandering lines describing imaginative landscapes, objects and flora and fauna. The apparent innocence and playfulness of her images belies the compositional sophistication and an engagement with subtle areas of colour which reinforces the work. Laura's work, whilst also playful, creatively raises issues of hybridisation and experimentation. She works in various media including sculpture and performance. Her sculptures in this exhibition are papier-mâché and fake fur mutations, which brightly coloured and immediate, will leave a lasting impression on the viewer.
