Visual Arts Scotland is a member's organisation for the exhibition and promotion of artists in Scotland. With a membership ranging from established figures to recent graduates and emerging artists we represent both fine and applied artists from all across the country. Held in the Royal Scottish Academy, the VAS annual juried exhibition shows a diverse cross section of the best in Scottish art in a nationally esteemed venue. Works exhibited will include painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and furniture, and most will be offered for sale. For this year's annual exhibition VAS have invited two artists with vastly contrasting styles to show alongside members and open entrants. Ullapool based painter, Peter White, creates encaustic canvasses on a massive scale. He uses a bold, geometric, style and heavy texture to create dramatic portraits and imposing still lives of huge vessels. In contrast, London based ceramicist Edith Garcia's work draws you into an alluring world of installation and sculpture. Edith's illustrative drawings emerge off the walls and continue across the surface of curious ceramic creatures, creating a unity between the two and three dimensional surface.Entrance to the exhibition if free of charge and a souvenir catalogue in full colour is available to buy.
