Alternative Arts in collaboration with Tower Hamlets Council and venues and organisations across East London celebrate Women’s History Month, with a huge programme of events taking place at various venues from 1-31 March 2025. The festival celebrates contemporary women artists, activists, writers and performers with events and exhibitions, performances, open studios, workshops, talks, discussions and lots more across the region.

Art Exhibitions include Abi Morocco Photos at Autograph, Citra Sasmita at the Barbican, the Women’s Spring Open Exhibition at the Brady Arts Centre and The Threads That Bind Us at Hackney Museum. Live Performances include A Little Inquest Into What We Are Doing Here a play by This Egg at Shoreditch Town Hall, The Women of Llanrumney at Theatre Royal Stratford East, and Pride and PrejudiceBlack is the Color of My Life and Mary and the Hyenas at Wilton’s Music Hall.

Talks include Refugee & Migrant Workers Speak Out at Bethnal Green Library, Girl Migrants in East London at Hackney Archives, Dalston CLR James Library, and Women’s Liberation Movement at the Tower Theatre presented by the Hackney HOWLers.

Otij-jo Collective will be running workshops at the Rich Mix, Republic of London and Poplar Union, The Rio Feminist Film Group are screening My Name is Andrea at the Rio Cinema and Women’s Voices Now present their annual online Film Festival.
