WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
The focus of Mila Rae Sarabhai’s workshop is drawing with brush and ink, looking at a Japanese method of ink wash painting called Sumi-e which is central to her drawing practice, and connects to her Japanese heritage. After an introduction to the medium and the different kinds of marks we can make with ink and brush we will be heading into neighbouring Spa Fields to draw from our surroundings, focusing on tone, light and shape, and exploring the results of using only one colour of ink.
Materials are included.
Format: Our Thursday evening series of workshops will focus on extending drawing through low-tech, low cost, DIY techniques. The creatives leading each workshop are young and emerging, yet each is working in a strong and accomplished way with their approach and materials.

BIO
Mila is an Artist based in London and is currently studying at the Slade. Her practice is primarily in Analog and experimental photography but drawing is still a strong undercurrent in her work.
WHO
Anyone who draws but would like to try out new materials and techniques centred on drawing.
