Class of 2020: Shawna Milligan
BA (Hons) Fine Art, University of Dundee, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.
“While the main themes throughout my practice are predominantly about experimentation and freedom of expression there is also a depiction between human and non-human identities that relates to my own lived experiences as a queer fat non-conforming transgender woman.”
With a low-fi approach Shawna rebels against hetero-normative cultures that exist throughout society, which have had a detrimental effect on their adolescence, by re-purposing day-to-day items and materials that may be perceived as ‘tacky’ or ‘cheap’, to create a pleasurable, immersive and frantic environment.
