When someone passes away, there are always shelves to clear by those left behind. Those shelves hold the story of a life; clues to the person. The ‘Last Shelves’ series are made using books cut to a shallow depth and glued into place, affixed to (at times) deliberately wonky shelves, and seemingly random objects – all painted wherever required. These become small wall-hung artworks that seek to represent a life. Almost a portrait; not quite.
