Anselm Kiefer really ‘lives’ his art. Not in an Allan Kaprow sense – more in a 100% involved in subject, materials, environment. I have found the films of him working rather captivating, in a dark sense. I’m not sure he enjoys what he does any more than I do – he also seems to have to do it. It has to be done. Palm Sunday is the wall; it’s also the room. There is power in that.
