Opening event of the Arts Council Funded exhibition, YOUTH UNCOVERED, a new exhibition of Professional Contemporary Art curated by a group of young people from three South London schools.

YOUTH UNCOVERED an exhibition supported by Arts Council England will show work of Professional Contemporary Artists as curated by a group of Young People. Youth Uncovered has been curated especially for Gerald Moore Gallery, whose mandate is to act as a testing ground for the exploration of emancipatory pedagogies and lateral learning.

The ‘Youth Uncovered’ curatorial team is a collective of young artists from three diverse South London secondary schools: Thomas Tallis School, East Dulwich Harris Academy for Girls and Eltham College.

Youth Uncovered asks the question, what does it mean to be a young person today? In structure, the project interrogates social and educational hierarchies by supporting young people to curate an exhibition of professional contemporary art. The Youth Uncovered curatorial joined forces in June of 2015, placing an international call for submissions and making their selections from an outstanding number of proposals. Since then, they have been working diligently both learning from and leading the professional artists in their research and understanding of what it means to be a young person today.

The programme was designed and delivered by Amy Ash, exclusively for Gerald Moore Gallery.
