Acrylic and graphite on board, 50x40cm, 2014
This painting drew influence from my interest in erosive processes in the Icelandic landscape as well as the action of focussing a camera lens. The soft subtle layering was built up slowly via adding and erasing paint repetitively. I wanted to achieve something that seemed present and absent at the same time and where the eye has to work to decipher the layering.
