Portraits of patients at the day hospice
Over the past three months, we’ve had the privilege of working with patients, staff, and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Day Hospice in East London. Together, we captured photographs, created self-portraits, and recorded their incredible life stories.
This journey has culminated in ‘Reflections of Life’—an exhibition celebrating the remarkable lives of the day hospice community.
The self-portraits are being projected onto the exterior of St. Joseph’s Hospice from dusk until 9:30pm each evening, running until the 18th of February. Inside the Hospice’s Hub, a small exhibition features photographs of the patients displayed on lightboxes alongside audio recordings from the workshops. The indoor exhibition will run until 31st January.
Many thanks to fine artist CA Halpin her fantastic work, to St Joseph’s Hospice for their warm hospitality and support, and to Hackney Council for kindly funding this project.

‘Reflections of Life’ is funded by Cultural Hackney – a Hackney Council initiative reflecting and celebrating the borough’s rich diversity and heritage through its communities.
