Sam MacDonald.
Whilst some public art commissions are mouldering in artists’ studios awaiting the okay, Sam MacDonald’s sculpture was sited just ahead of foot and mouth restrictions. Made from plough blades, it commemorates the passing of the millennium and celebrates the continued survival of Orkney’s ancient heritage. It is sited at the Auction Mart, the hub of Orkney’s argicultural world, creating an unexpected union of art and agriculture.
