This is a sign work suggesting at the restricting nature of currently existing signs in public space, for example this is the “partner” to all the “stop” signs in the world – this relationship is enforced by the works connotations with Mc Hammer’s song “can’t touch this”, which is itself a very enjoyable song, as well as its visual similarity to a stop sign. It also references a term used in skateboarding”throwing hammers” which refers to a skater being very good. This combination of meanings along with the humor of seeing a confusing sign in the public makes it a humerous commentry.
