This sign is a case in point. I understand Grand Harbour Restaurant and I half expect that the Chinese characters above should be a translation of the same. I cannot tell if that is the case. I understand just two of the six characters, numbers 4 and 5 which mean ‘big’ and ‘alcoholic drink’ which leads me think it is a bar. Funny how that is what I pick-up upon… British? Me?However, the characters change their meaning when placed together in combinations that create new concepts so one should never be too certain, even when you know the characters.
