This is one of the crossings on a more leisurely Sunday afternoon. The crossing does not mean the cars stop for you, it simply means they will try to avoid you by driving either side of you as you work your way from one side to another. This reminds me of video I saw at Muhka (Antwerp) of a Chinese artist crossing a busy road by creating a wall of breeze blocks. He slowly took bricks from one side of the wall to the other to create a moving wall that the speeding cars swerved either side of and let cross.
