As a UK-wide organisation, we encourage applications from Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. All successful applicants will be given a full induction and training.
Since 1980, a-n has grown from a grass roots, 500-copy-a-month newsletter, to a magazine, online platform, and now a full professional membership offer focusing on members’ needs.
As the largest artists’ membership organisation in the UK, in the last three years a-n has achieved its highest ever membership and income, reaching over 25,000 members and a £1m+ turnover.
a-n Board determines policy and sets the strategic direction of the organisation. Board members play an active role representing a-n externally as well as monitoring the organisation against its agreed objectives and targets.
This is a pivotal time for the organisation with ambitious ideas, programmes and a critical role to play championing, campaigning for and supporting visual artists.
In 2019 a-n announced eight new appointments to its Board: Sonia Boué, Hannah Cross, Amrita Dhallu, Skinder Hundal, Jerome Ince-Mitchell, Helen Nisbet, Keith Piper and Anjalika Sagar.
These appointments included individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences who have collectively brought a wide range of skills to a-n. Half of these appointments are practising visual artists, ensuring that artists are central to the governance of a-n.
a-n is committed to being an inclusive employer. We are once again seeking applications from people from a range of backgrounds and strongly encourage artists to apply.
See the a-n Board Recruitment Information Pack for more information and to apply. Deadline to apply is 12 noon on Thursday 9 April 2020.
