Today sees the launch of COLLECT, the Crafts Council’s international fair for contemporary objects. Featuring both emerging and established artists represented by 35 galleries, the fair offers the opportunity to purchase world class and museum quality contemporary craft.
Galleries on show include: Adrian Sassoon, Bishopsland, Collection Ateliers d’art de France, Gallerie Format Oslo, jaggedart, Katie Jones, Korea Craft and Design Foundation and The Gallery at London Glassblowing.
In addition to the main presentation on the Saatchi Gallery’s ground and first floors, several special exhibitions are also on show. Tord Boontje is exhibiting his Rough-And-Ready chairs, made using materials that have been salvaged or are cheap and common place. In addition, textile artist Ann Sutton MBE will be presenting her mixed media pieces. There is also a preview of the Crafts Council touring exhibition, I AM HERE.
The fair is this year part of the inaugural London Craft Week, taking place across the capital at high profile venues including Fortnum and Mason, The Contemporary Ceramics Centre and the V&A, plus boutiques including Vacheron Constantin.
COLLECT takes place at the Saatchi Gallery, London, SW3, 8-11 May. www.craftscouncil.org.uk/what-we-do/collect
