Oliver Beer, Julie Brook and Mikhail Karikis have been announced as the shortlisted artists for the third Daiwa Foundation Art Prize 2015.

The three artists will exhibit their work at London’s Daiwa Foundation Japan House Gallery in June 2015, at which point the winner will be selected and announced.

The triennial prize includes an award of £5000, a solo exhibition at the Aoyama | Meguro Gallery in Tokyo and travel and accommodation costs for a seven-day trip to Japan to coincide with the exhibition.

In keeping with the aims of the Daiwa Anglo-Japanese Foundation, which was established in 1988 in order to support deeper links between Britain and Japan, the winning artist will be introduced to key individuals and organisations in the Japanese art world during their visit.

The 2015 judging panel is comprised of Hideki Aoyama, gallery director, Aoyama | Meguro Gallery, Tokyo; Richard Deacon, artist; Mami Kataoka, chief curator, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Chris Orr RA, artist; and Jonathan Watkins, director of Ikon Gallery, Birmingham.
