New paintings by Helen Dryden
Artist Helen Dryden’s paintings aim to convey sensations or feelings where words are inadequate. Her works often depict female characters and there is a feminism in her portrayals of rave and goth culture. As part of Love Arts Leeds festival which celebrates mental well-being, Dryden presents 23 new pieces with the desire to ‘challenge the negative perceptions of those with poor mental health’.
Until 29 October 2016, Love Art Leeds, Brewdog, Whitecloth Hall, Leeds.

Ropewalkers
Three artists make work in response to the unique history and context of Dawes Twineworks Museum, which is rare in England in still retaining all its machinery. Simon Whetham has developed his immersive sound work, Trace Evidence, based on ‘discreet and hidden sounds’ that he has found in the local area. Andy Parker has produced a new piece in collaboration with volunteers at the museum that is ‘useful’ in the sense that it applies ideas from the past to the present. Artist and gardener Jo Ball’s growing project, Brief patches of blue sky, also involves community collaboration and aims to make linen twine from flax.
15 October – 4 November, OSR Project Space & Dawe’s Twineworks, Old School Room, Church Street, West Coker, Somerset.

Making More Space
Nic Green and Artsadmin convene this weekend-long gathering exploring how learning is generated within site-based performance practice. In particular, the symposium will look at the findings from the three-year Make Space artist development programme that supported young artists to test out relational site-based performance. This multi-form event will include performances, workshops and shared meals.
15-16 October 2016, Richmond Yacht Club, Eel Pie Island, Twickenham.
